What is 2FA and how do I set it up?

Two Factor Authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security designed to ensure that you are the only person who can access your account, even if someone knows your Password. Using a Username and Password together with a dynamic layer of Two Factor Authentication makes it more difficult for your account to become compromised.

For security reasons, we require our users upgrade their Two Factor Authentication after registering to either an Authentication Application is Google Authenticator or/and set mobile number. Please see instructions below on how to set these up.

  1. Google Authenticator is an application (apps) that generate timed codes and can be easily connected to your Bsgex account. You can download it from the Google Play and App Store. To use Google Authenticator, install it on your mobile device either from the Google Play or App Store and follow the instructions from within the app.
  2. After logging in using your Email Address, click on the 'Enable' Two-Factor Authentication.
    • Note: You should write on paper your ciphertext and store it safely for reinstallation if you change your mobile.
  3. After scanning the QR code and generating a timed code, you enter this code on 'Password on the authenticator' then click on the 'Enable'.

If the code is correct, you will receive a notice 'Two-Factor Authentication has been successfully Enabled'. This means you have finished setting up 2FA.
